Umera Ahmed (Urdu: عمیرہ احمد) is widely regarded as Pakistan’s most celebrated contemporary author and screenwriter. Born in Sialkot in 1976 and trained in English Literature at Murray College, she began publishing short stories in Urdu digests in 1998 and has since become one of the most widely read fiction writers of her generation, with more than 30 novels and short story collections to her name.
